Liberation Code of Conduct

Online Forum

We want the Liberation community to feel safe, welcoming, and genuinely useful for everyone. You can help us make that happen.

This Code of Conduct sets out the kind of behaviour we encourage, and the standards we expect in our community spaces.

We encourage

Kind and respectful participation
Simply put, treat others the way you’d like to be treated. We welcome discussion — but please aim to be constructive and thoughtful.

Contributing to a learning environment
Be curious. Ask questions, share knowledge, and help others. The goal is to create a space where people feel comfortable learning and improving.

Using your real name
We ask that you use at least your first name and initial (for example, “Sam B”) so that conversations feel more personal and accountable. This helps keep the community friendly and professional.
We may occasionally ask you to update your display name if it doesn’t meet this guideline.

Following guidance from the team
We’re here to keep things running smoothly and make the forum a great place to spend time. Following guidance from the team helps us do that.

Not acceptable

Harassment of any kind
We are committed to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices.

Uncharitable behaviour
Please avoid being unnecessarily nitpicky, rude, or dismissive. Try not to assume others don’t know what they’re talking about. This kind of behaviour quickly creates a negative atmosphere.

Harmful or offensive language or statements
Language or behaviour that is abusive, hostile, discriminatory, or intended to provoke or upset others doesn’t belong here.

Creating unnecessary noise
Try to avoid low-effort or repetitive posts that don’t add much to the discussion. This includes asking questions without context, repeating the same question across multiple threads, or posting off-topic replies.

Before starting a new thread, it’s worth taking a moment to search the forum or documentation — your question may already have been answered. If you’re continuing an existing topic, adding new details helps move the discussion forward.

Keeping things focused makes the forum much more useful for everyone.

Joining under false pretences
Please don’t join or participate in a way that misleads others, disrupts the community, or hides your identity for uncharitable purposes.

Moderation

We do actively moderate the forum to keep it safe, constructive, and useful.

This may include editing or removing content, or restricting participation where behaviour consistently goes against these guidelines.

Our goal is not to police people, but to keep the community healthy and enjoyable for everyone.

EVENTS

Liberation events are based on treating all individuals respectfully, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, ethnicity, species, religion (or lack thereof), or software preferences. So please don’t be nasty or mean. Be nice. Be considerate. Be civil. It’s easy.

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, plea se contact a member of the Liberation crew. They will be clearly visible. Or if you spot me, Seb Lee-Delisle, or Abby Shum please don’t hesitate to talk to us.

You can phone or text me but if I’m not responding, a member of staff will be at the merch desk for most of the day, so if you can’t get hold of me, please speak to them.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior must immediately comply. If a participant engages in any of the aforementioned behavior, we may take any action we deem appropriate, from warning the offender to immediately expelling the offender from Liberation Day with no refund.
